Hoher Luftdurchsatz bei maximaler Filterwirkung und eine bessere Leistungsausbeute sind die Merkmale der K&N-Luftfilter. Aufgrund des höheren Luftdurchlasses sind K&N-Filter besonders gut für Einspritzsysteme geeignet, da die größere Luftmenge über die Gemischregulierung eine bessere Leistungsausbeute als mit den üblichen Papierfiltern erzielt. Versuche mit K&N-Luftfiltern ergaben einen Leistungszuwachs von ca. 4 PS bei Golf GTi-Motoren ohne Umstellung der Einspritzanlage.
Die K&N-Luftfilter bestehen aus 4-lagiger geölter Baumwolle, sind auswaschbar und wiederverwendbar. Wartungsintervalle nur alle 80.000 km.
